Other reasons to fly CE - the middle seat does make flying as a couple more relaxing, lounge access (I have no status), some food and drink on board, and a cost saving feature if skiing - skis go for free, and no fuss taking boots in to the cabin. All features worth something so it's certainly worth a premium, and the premium using Avios is really quite small.
I have made a mistake booking CE from LCY to BER on Avios in May as there is no middle seat, no lounge at LCY and I'm not skiing (obviously). But what the heck, I have 220,000 of the things...
