Other than being a lowly silver, there are a number of reasons row 1 isn't my preference. First, IMO having a bulkhead directly in front of you reduces the feeling of space; in my lounge at home, I wouldn't position my sofa half a metre from a wall! Second, it seems that jackets are seldom taken by the crew and placed in a wardrobe; here, rows 2 onwards can make use of the coat hooks on the seats in front. Then, third, and affecting 1C/D more so but, you're more likely to have passengers loitering for the toilet right next to you, particularly when the curtain needs to be closed.
