Yes at one point (well before I was active in FF programs), AA counted miles earned via CC spend towards MMer status.

Conversely UA only counts BIS miles towards MMer status. Elite bonuses do not count (not sure if they ever did).

On DL, any earned MQMs count towards MMer status, whether it’s base MQMs, Class of Service Bonus MQMs, AmEx Spend-boost MQMs, and promo MQMs (such as when DL ran promos where you could earn MQMs with Hilton stays about 6-7 years ago).
