UA does have a consistency problem. I never order special meals, but I have a similar complaint about Channel 9. If it's going to be off frequently, just forget about it rather than jerking us around.
One thing I do like about Delta is that if you miss a connecting flight, they will re-book you before your late flight arrives, and you can get your new boarding pass from a printer by scanning your original one; it takes all of five seconds.
If UA had E+ and Channel 9 on every flight, fired the abusive flight attendants, and posted miles with 99% precision like Delta, UA would be the best carrier out there and Delta would be the one struggling to stay in business.
It's sad when one airline is deemed better because it sucks less than another airline!
