the bottom seatcushions is velcroed to seat, can be adjusted to provide a larger sleeping area
YMMV - i have no issues with poor man's lie-flat
I can barely survive their long flights. I've flown UA SIN-SFO in both directions & I arrived at my destination both times with insulin-induced hunger
since OP is UA 1K, have you considered SIN-NRT-SFO?
NRT-SFO is still kinda empty (not as empty as SIN-SFO), there's the ANA NRT lounge which is pretty good if you're ok with asian tastes
not sure how the PQP turns out (if you buy UA ticket stock versus ANA ticket stock, and whether you fly ANA or UA from NRT-SFO). doesn't help with million miler status though
(Japan isn't on the VTL so you can't do this when returning to Singapore. And if you fly out of Singapore via Japan, you can't return to Singapore within the next 14 days since Japan isn't on the Vtl list)
