While the Centurion card is still by invitation only, Amex’s website for expressing interest is still up and running. It seems to me that Amex is also interested in expanding the number of Centurion card members at the same time. It would make sense if they did, to make up for the revenue lost as a result of less transactions during COVID (I am assuming).
For those that received an invitation for the Centurion card in the past two years, do you reckon Amex has lowered the spending requirement to be extended an invitation?
By having the Centurion welcome mat rolled out, Amex isn't trying to make up for revenue lost due to Covid-19. Amex is trying to maximize the fee revenue it collects from account members.
Amex relaxed the Centurion spending requirement criteria for accounts across various locations in 2020 and 2021.
