Figured I should update this. I was able to select seats through the Safari browser on my iPhone, it did not work on my MacBook.

After flying TAP, I would do it again. Is it Qatar Airways? No, absolutely not but it was pretty good. Lounge access at EWR is okay, especially since I wasn't in the mood to jump around terminals and go to the Polaris Lounge. I did not like the throne seat at all though, I had absolutely no room to shift my knees around or spread my legs out and the footwell is extremely small, I could not sleep because of this. The food was very good though along with the Portuguese wines and the crew was very nice. The connecting flight from LIS to LHR was smooth and the lounge in LIS is not bad. On the flight back I selected a seat in the 1st row and even though it's less private and someone is sitting right next to you I greatly preferred it to the throne seat, so much more comfortable and roomy. And to top it off, it was $1k less expensive that any other flight.
