They don't HAVE to stick to it. Plenty of companies announce release dates for products, and then they slip. Providing no date almost certainly means this isn't going to be a six month temporary thing. I'd bet the "temporary" in this case is going to be multiple years until heavy maintenance is due, but I'd be glad to be proven wrong.
These are going to be terrible subs if there's a last minute equipment swap from a flagship A350 to one of these. Fewer D1 seats, worse D1 seat, and no PS mean you're going to be looking at 80+ unhappy people if this is what they get with an equipment swap. There's two fewer D1 seats on this config compared to the suite config, so those two would be looking at going from a lie flat suite to a C+ seat if they are lucky (along with all 48 people in PS getting kicked back to C+ or worse). That would be miserable on an ATL to ICN, HND, or JNB length route.
