Since waiving change fees after Covid, Delta has introduced a series of refundable fares that are fairly reasonably priced (generally $100 more each way than main cabin fares on international routes). The upfare option is generally offered upon checkout at delta.com. Previously, it would have been many times that amount to upfare most fares to a refundable fare for international fares.
