It's funny, actually. It seems like nearly everyone used to go out of the way to avoid turboprops. When the RJs first came along (I think the first ones I ever saw were Comair), I remember thinking that these were the greatest dang things to ever take to the skies. It was such a relief to have a relatively quiet and comfortable jet plane when I was used to flying the EMB-120 props. I shifted a lot of my flying to DL for that reason - it was a choice between props and RJs and the RJ won out every time in my book.

Oh, how times change. Now the RJs are the awful experience in the sky. I, too, find myself altering my itineraries to avoid RJs, especially long flights on RJs. I'll often take the CO codeshare on NW metal using the DC9s for connections to avoid a 2.5 hour hop to EWR on the ERJ. Or I'll try to change my plans to use the 737 on CO (and the vain hope of getting an EUA) to avoid the ERJ.

It would be great if the EMB-170 came along to replace a lot of the ERJ-145s on the 2+ hour hops. But from everything I've read, it just isn't going to happen at CO. More 145's on order, not a mention of the 170. Anyone heard differently?
