I definitely agree with you about there are other carriers that fly non stop routes internationally out of LAX, As a United flyer however, when we talk Pacific, I can only think of Sydney and Tokyo that they fly into nonstop. Do not know if they will fly to Melbourne again. They have said they were going to resume LAX to LHR. We will see. 98% of the flights from the West Coast fly out of SFO. I am sure it is a competition thing. Obviously there was decision by United management to pull back at LAX. United at LAX years ago was the lead domestic carrier at LAX. They have scaled back both Internationally and domestically since that time.
