Marriott just referred back the case to the hotel, so useless

BUT on the bright side - I checked out of this hotel this morning (lots of snow in Istanbul - crazy!) Very positive impressions - so here's a small review

This is a newly opened (last summer) small property after a decade (!) of renovation in a very old bank building - 30-something rooms and 4 suites. I can easily imagine they were REALLY sold out (their website didn't sell suites anymore even for money), I still blame Bonvoy. Anyway, water under the bridge.

Location - excellent, just a few hundred meters from Yeni Cami, the Golden Horn and all related transports (tram, ferries, etc) or a 15 minutes walk to Aya Sophia or Sultanahmet Mosque

Very, very friendly and helpful staff ++ At checkin they apologised a lot for the SNA cockup, even though I was on a separate booking now - so they know their customer.

I got upgraded to a Grand Executive room (NB they have no lounge), fresh new, largish. +

Breakfast is served (table service) in their lobby-cum-bar-cum-restaurant. Free for Plat or 750p Three options - Turkish, American, "healthy" I went with the Turkish - I got 15+ different small plates (I sent half of them back, no need to waste food) + egg dish. I went with the Oeuf Royale.

They have a rooftop terrace and a bar/restaurant/jazzclub in the cellar vault, with live music on Fridays. Due to the shortness of the stay and the snow flurries I didn't check either out.

So this is the Orientbank Hotel (Autograph) - I would definitely go back if our planned long weekend in Istanbul

PS - for you James Bond aficionados. There was a small scene in Skyfall shot in the building pre-renovation. "Bond makes his first appearance coming out of the old Deutsche Orientbank building in Eminönü, not far from the Egyptian (Spice) Bazaar and the Yeni Cami" https://turkeytravelplanner.com/reso...ames_bond.html

The checkin agent will happily show it on her iPad
