I did not notice anything, other than things were fairly quiet which was not a surprise given it was Jan. Then again I would leave for the office in the burbs at 8am and would not be back to the hotel until 7pm so was not really spending time in the area.

I guess it probably is worse than before the troubles started, and for sure I was more alert after talking to my co-workers, but at the same time I will probably stay here again on the next trip
Even in the spring/summer/fall periods when there has long been more strange stuff going on out and about on the streets -- away from the busier "evening" businesses, some of which have their own problems from time to time -- than in the cold times, I've been walking on the streets around downtown Minneapolis without incident. Same dynamic during the pandemic. In some parts there was a fair amount of very visible police presence and also what I assumed were probably plain clothes cops around.

I've never had downtown Minneapolis feel that safe -- and it's often been desolate in large parts in the evenings over the years -- but I have never had that stop me from staying downtown with Hyatt or otherwise.
