Full disclosure, I’ve never stayed at the property, but I think the issue is…

• Families and others increasingly want / need warm weather vacation destinations in the US / Caribbean (pool / beach access, good food, relaxation, etc)
• There seem to be a lot more people willing and able to pay up for these vacations
• Given these dynamics and requirements, what are the available options, and how do they stack up in terms of price, access, off-premise amenities, etc

I‘m not saying this property is worth it, the challenge is that every other hotel in Maui also costs $1,000 at a minimum, and many other resorts nationwide do as well, so you need to look at the hotel in that context. It may still not be worth it even if you do, but the current market is what it is. Amsterdam/Beverly Hills May be better redemptions but they may not fit the requirement (beach vacation. / resort). Four Seasons Maui May be worth it but it costs $2,000 a night.
