Stayed brielfy at the downtown Regency recently. First trip to MN in almost 3yrs. Co-workers were shocked as in their eyes downtown is a hotbed of crime and unrest.
I did not notice anything, other than things were fairly quiet which was not a surprise given it was Jan. Then again I would leave for the office in the burbs at 8am and would not be back to the hotel until 7pm so was not really spending time in the area.

I guess it probably is worse than before the troubles started, and for sure I was more alert after talking to my co-workers, but at the same time I will probably stay here again on the next trip
