Out of interest, as I've been considering it, is there any reason you didn't do a oneworld RTW ticket from Hong Kong, is it just much more expensive than BKK? Or you did a redemption RTW (wow at finding availability!). I have presumed I need to pay $$$ to find enough business class availability.

I'm currently pondering a summer holiday (so not urgent) using a RTW ticket along the lines of HKG-America-Europe-Thailand // Thailand - Singapore (work a bit) - HKG, and due to the multiple destinations the RTW ticket seems to be lower risk and more flexible. The BKK-SIN-HKG route is a bit of a pain (has to go via KUL with MH), but keeps it all on one ticket.
