Is it too much to ask for what you think you're paying for? Either US based airlines need to charge less, or they need to offer better service/product.
The market (at least domestically) seems to feel differently... At least on UA F cabins are going out full and there are relatively few upgrades most routes most of the time. This would suggest that either UA has found the perfect price for their mediocre experience, or if anything, they are not charging enough for it.
Not that I wouldn't like for the experience to be a bit more elevated but I don't think "charging a lot" matches the market's feelings.
