I also read the reviews for the Hilton, and I don't seem too enthralled by it.
Have walked to the old Crowne Plaza before from LAX, and it's a nice, fairly straight line.
Been down the Hilton end once, but it seems a bit sketchier that end (but as said, Denny's is there, McDonalds outside the HI and Carl's Jr? somewhere).
The H or Homewood Suites, in the same building are a potential. Very close to the airport and a $ between them pricewise.
Is the bit on TA about a $300 security deposit true?
Also looked at the HGI El Segundo, and it looks more like some guest house than a hotel by some of the decor. I dan look past that though.
Not far to walk to In N' Out burger though and easy to catch the bus to Santa Monica from that area (probably would do that regardless of hotel as its nice to sit on the pier).
The Hampton doesn't seem to have a Shuttle bus, so would need Lyft or whatever to get there and back.
Tempted by the HIX. Not Hilton, but got status with them and reviews seem slightly better.
Might even pay a few extra $ and stay at MdR.
The Hampton Inn LAX still has a shuttle (or at least has had for some time). They use the shuttle bus for the parking garage next to the hotel, 105 Airport Parking.
For a 6am departure though I would stay at the H or the Hilton and just walk to the airport in the morning. With the lounge closed the hilton gives you a $15-20 coupon you can use the night before in the lounge if you would like. The hilton is usually quite a bit cheaper than the H. The H/Homewood does have an annoying habit of occasionally wanting a security deposit. But I’ve never had an issue with it dropping off immediately.
