Thanks for clarifying. Makes sense and yes - agree re the seat only fare getting the benefit of WD. So essentially if she wanted the free seat, we'd have to book 2 WD returns and the seat would be between us.
Yes you both need to book WD. Though if happy not to sit together you could book works and they could book WD.
WD is in essence is a "seperate cabin".
