Trains are basically “walk-up” but expensive. No meaningful saving on return versus one way. There are small savings on advance purchase tickets but not enough to justify the lost flexibility IMHO. So CH is a great country for unplanned train travel.

You should also be fine with late booking hotels so long as you are gone by the Easter weekend!
