Hopefully they are adding that language to upgrades so we will now be able to tell which are upgrades are which are upfares.

I have an upcoming flight PHX-BNA ow. The offer I see in the app is exactly the fare difference between what I paid and the currently cheapest F fare. It's clearly an upfare and it does not have the "no LP" clause.

While AA doesn't do it, DL manages to code their upgrade offers such that they earn MQD even though they are not upfares (they aren't based on fare diff and there's no fare exchange and you lose the value of your purchase should you make a voluntary change).
