I think Hyatt Centric hotels as a whole are better than Doubletree, but that speaks to the weakness of the Doubletree brand rather than the strength of Hyatt centric.
I am new to Hyatt; achieved globalist lite by June of last year and my first stay in a Hyatt Centric was in July. I had a fairly negative assumption of the brand going in, and was pleasantly surprised by my stay at the Hyatt Centric Magnificent Mile in Chicago. Unfortunately, subsequent stays at other Hyatt Centrics have lowered my expectations for the brand. I agree it is similar to Doubletree in that both brands seem to lack consistent standards between hotels.
I have wondered why the other plain “Hyatt” hotels haven’t been rebranded as centric. What is the difference supposed to be between “Hyatt” and “Hyatt Centric”? Both brands seem to be all over the place and interchangeable in my eyes, although I’m glad to have received an explorer badge for both.
