I suppose that's why it was delivered courtesy of the cabin manager, and not courtesy of BA. It implies that it is specific to this particular crew on this flight and not something that is going to happen all the time.

Personally, I think it's great service from the crew - aren't they supposed to surprise and delight where they can?

It's always struck me as odd when frequent flyers at Gold level suddenly get something like this once, with an appropriate qualification, and others automatically assume that this is going to be the service standard in future, when there has no announcement to that effect. Why would people be disappointed? I think people expect a bit too much.

I would hardly be sitting in EuroTraveller on a Dublin to London flight after reading this story and be huffy because the crew didn't come around with a personal offer of a free drink from Club.

When it's written, "As part of your Gold privileges, crew will come around with foot massages and cocktails when flying EuroTraveller on all flights over 2 hours and 42 minutes", then I'll start wondering where my free stuff is. Otherwise, it's simply just good service from a crew who had the time, resources and thoughtfulness to do so, to some of the company's most loyal clients.
