With minor adjustment of flight path there is no issue for USA-Japan flights to avoid Russian air space --
such as ewr-nrt. A little less fuel efficient but well in UA's aircraft capabilities.
It is a bigger issue for Europe-Japan flights but you will not be seeing UA flights needing tech stops in Alaska ANC/FAI
