Due to reduced complements, the only thing which should be offered pre take off are pre take off drinks, menus, and drinks and meal order time permitting.

2 hours for a (if OPs flight was indeed ) full cabin delivering the current full experience is quite quick considering on a 789 there are only two crew delivering in the cabin, one of whom would be the SCCM who has to dip in and out of the service to do other safety related duties and say hello to F customers ahead of joining the service, and one in the galley preparing the service and drinks for 42 pax.

This is something I have been feeding back internally for a while but until the service standards are rewritten to offer a sleeper service and crew complements return to pre covid, this is the current standard.
So are you saying a 789 has 3 crew 1 of whom is the SCCM:
- 1 x galley lead (cc)
- 1 x cc
- 1 x sccm

If so that seems bonkers! Is this still supposed to be a “hand run” service too? My observation is that if you were allowed a trolley this might go quicker. In the olden days on the Euro 767s in CE I’m pretty sure it was a kind of U shaped service with the trolley - ie starting at back of one side of the cabin and flowing round. I know it’s a bit less personal but it might be efficient and ensure the service is at least ‘out’? Would that work? IE ditch all this ordering nonsense - toilet bags and water pre departure instead of meal / drinks orders and then just load everything onto trolley with bar trolley followed by meal trolley then clear in by hand with offer of ‘anything else?’. I appreciate shiny members would risk not getting their first choice etc but it would make the service delivery / flow better?
