Actually, morning is usually the lightest time of day for int'l departures from LAX. Traditionally, the bulk of the departures to Asia are late night, and most of the Europe departures are afternoon or evening. Of course with the combination of covid and Russia, nothing is normal right now.
Right - I was going to post the same thing. Most transpac flights I've taken from LAX leave pretty late at night or even early morning - I think the Cathay flight to HK was at 1 AM back in the day.
