If you've got time to kill and would like to fly Air France or KLM business class across the Atlantic, if you start your trip in Tunisia, it drops the overall price considerably. (ie. Paris to Toronto is like $5000, but Tunis-Paris-Toronto is $1200).

Entry to Tunisia seems uncomplicated, requiring only proof of vaccination *or* negative covid test, and Canadians and Germans can visit without a visa: https://www.visatunisia.com/visa-exemption/. Americans and other European Nationals can get a visa for $26, although their online eVisa portal seems to not yet be operational so I think you'd have to mail in the form.
