The agent is correct. You cant use a TSU when using a free night award. You CAN use them when you book with points, but not a 1-4 or 1-7 award.

In this case, you should book 2 separate stays. The 3 nights on points and apply your suite upgrade certificate, then book the 1-4 award as the last night. If you're lucky, the hotel will just let you stay in the suite. If you're not lucky and the hotel is full, you'll just have to move rooms for the last night. I had to do this at The Cape in Cabo, but because I'm Globalist still got upgraded to a Junior Suite for the last night.
