And I actually fall into the category pinniped described--I really like the merchandise rewards. I'd rather earn miles and points when traveling, not get free rooms and whatnot. And I can easily afford a few hundred bucks for a hotel room, but $10K for a plasma screen hasn't made it out of my long-term wish list yet. To me, those Marriott points are a LOT more valuable to get something like that (or the Super Bowl tickets--now THERE'S a creative reward!) than free nights or flights.
