I have logged many miles with US, DL and now switched to NW and have enjoyed the change. The US upgrades are both or none, which is Easy for Mrs. SANGER3494. I have NOT done the Companion upgrade since I turned GOLD with my wife as we are going NW on December 29th FLL-DTW-MDW and returning the 1st. I am not sure the best way to do the upgrade process both of us. I have tried to do a search and not much to this specific question.

Do you go for my upgrade and hope she gets one at the gate. As she does not like to sit by herself in FC.
I am at the mercy of the gate agent day of travel? I am sure I can upgrade with miles (15000), I do not think that is worth it.

As gold this year my upgrade have 90 %, as I fly from FLL & PBI not a large elites.
