Quite a few members have reported this. After reading about their experiences, every time I open a ticket, I tell them to make sure that the miles post as base miles rather than bonus and that I will open another ticket if they don't. So far I've had 100% success (4/4 resolved tickets) posting as base.
Right. So help me understand when I should choose to use Book AA Hotels...
I can book via Booking.com for a property at $396.
Same property via BookAAHotels (powered by Booking) is $505 for 5,000 miles (2.18 cents per) or I can boost it to 11,000 miles for $626 (2.09 cents per). I'd be staying at the property although it is my second choice property in the city (my first isn't offering AA miles).
If I took the boost, I get both 11,000 AA miles in addition to being credited 11,000 LPs correct?
The 11k would surely be quite the LP addition towards achieving 2023 Plat but it's costing me $230 to get em.
What is the thought process here? Worth it? I tend to hate paying extra for something. I'll get Plat either way... via AA cc spend mostly. Of course that has it's own opportunity cost. I'm shooting for Plat only (perhaps PlatPro if my thinking on these hotel stays changes).
What is everyone's thoughts? Just earn Plat via things I do already without any out of pocket spend? Or pay up when it's ~2 cents per or less?
