Yes, it is possible. I was once able to get on an earlier KWI-DOH flight to maximize my layover in Doha back in 2021. Make sure the same fare code exists on the 2005 flight out of MLE (I believe there's availability in the I class). Give them a call and they'll be able to process your request for free usually. If that doesn't work, just hang up and try again.
