I have a five-night stay coming up over Memorial Day weekend and I'm curious if anything has changed since last year. I was going back and forth between this, the Gaslamp Quarter, Embassy Suites, and the one up north at Torrey Pines. Decided on this one for the views, pool, and decent location, plus the solid award redemption value (240k points for a $1940 stay). That and they have self-parking for $40, not mandatory valet parking for $55+. Obviously not quite a destination hotel, I'm going to mostly be visiting beaches and spending evenings going around town. I thought about the Hotel Del Coronado but between the renovations and FT/TA reviews (it's overrun with non-guest tourists and crowded all the time) I decided to preserve some of my Hilton points rather than going for the maximum cpp redemption.
