Hedging bets for a Europe trip starting in Poland (due to Ukraine invasion)
Hi, all,
I have an award trip to Europe in business class I am planning in a couple of months. The roundtrip starts with a flight into Poland (UA into FRA on UA; connecting to Lufthansa to travel to Krakow); I also have an Excursionist flight from WAW-MUC on Lufthansa). My return is from Portugal (TAP to London; UA to SFO).
Two questions related to "hedging my bets" if travel to Poland becomes unwise due to an ongoing situation in Ukraine/that part of the world:
1) Would I be able to just cancel the connecting flight to Krakow and the excursionist flight and keep the rest of my reservation intact?
2) Can I create/will Unites allow me to create another award booking flying into Europe that will overlap in time but not have any flights on the same dates (and even the same cities) as the current reservation? That way, I could cancel the current reservation and still ensure that i can take the bulk of my vacation (just excluding Poland).
Any feedback on either of these questions is very much appreciated. Thanks.
