I gave up accumulating airline miles from car rentals long ago. The number of miles you can earn is usually pretty trivial and they charge you extra for the privilege. I opt for car rental points, usually with Hertz, although those are effectively worthless now as well. Finding a Hertz award these days is about as easy as an EXP finding "Expanded award seat availability" on AA.
