My upcoming ORD to HEL flight recently had the A350 swapped out for the A330-300. While I had wanted to fly the A350 J hard product, I feel like I am making the most of the change by grabbing 8A, the throne in the mini cabin.

Looking on the App, it lists my “preferred seat” as 8A. The “preferred” terminology scares me a little and made me recall that in at least one AY J trip report, I saw that someone had been bumped out of there AY J selected seat at check in.

How often do these seat selections change at check in? Is it status driven? Or am I reading too much into the wording?
