But because I partially paid using a gift card, it is impossible to issue a voucher. I can only request a cash refund (although ticket conditions do not say so) for the part I paid by credit card. The value of the gift card will be lost… is this true?
Looking on MMB I indeed see two options: change flight or cancel/request voucher. Change flight doesn’t allow me to book a complete new ticket. Only to change the origin or destination, but it somehow must be in the same country. Useless for me. Request voucher doesn’t mention anything (and the linked conditions) about tickets partially paid with a gift voucher. Ideally, I like a voucher to book a new trip when I am ready.
Any experience or suggestions?
I had comparable situation in September last year. I bought 3 tickets, paid for them partially with a gift voucher, partially a normal voucher and the remaining by card. My wife couldn't join us, so had to cancel her ticket. I waited a month before I started asking when I will get the voucher, first on KLM FB, they send me to AF FB team, AF FB opened a complaint for me, AF reacted that they cannot handle it, so I should send a complaint to KL

.
In the end after 4 months I was so angry that I called the platinum line, reminded them about their own policy that tickets could be cancelled and you will get a voucher. In the end they told me the problem was that cancelled flights get a refundable voucher and since the gift voucher is non-refundable, they cannot issue a voucher.
I asked them to issue a non-refundable voucher. It took the guy 3 days, but in the end I received the voucher (unfortunately in my wife's name).
