We just spent a week here with our 12, 11 and 9 year olds. During the week days it was awesome, never felt crowded and vibe was relaxed family kind of place. But on weekends the pool restaurant was closed for private events during the day which had some thumping music and the vibe was not what we were looking for. The restaurant being closed is BS, I’ve just been traveling for too long to be ok with that. In addition, on the weekend, there was way, way too much pot being smoked on the property, including wafting up into our room! This is unacceptable.

Good things: generally a great layout so there are no bad rooms and the place doesn’t feel all that crowded (there is always a pool with space). The beach, even though surf is unsafe many days, still is nice to sit down there and read, catch the sunset and walking along the beach.

other not so good things: the food is really mediocre. I mean if you hit Jardin Secret, Flora Farms, Santa Pulpo or any of the other known eateries outside the property, the food here is just laughable. We had a “surf and turf” that was $65 and the shrimp were overcooked and the “turf” was flank steak that they didn’t even cut and it was served with an inadequate knife for properly cutting a flank steak to reduce its chewiness. This may sound pedantic, but a flank steak is a tough cut if it is not properly sliced. It was not really edible. There is, and has been for some time, some really good food in the area. Many of the dishes we had for lunches and dinner were such let downs. We tried to eat out as much as possible as a result.
