Nice upgrade! Surprising during high season. The grounds are lovely and the breakfast is excellent. Unfortunately, the condition of most rooms is pretty poor, so it's good you scored the upgrade :-)

Actually, if you turn right from the property, it's a very short walk down Camelback to N Arcadia Drive, turn right again, and it's a very pleasant neighborhood for walking on the south flank of Camelback Mountain, with excellent views as you climb. Or you can dash across Camelback, and you're in Arcadia, which is one of Phoenix's most pleasant neighborhoods for walking (with a rather unique Frank Lloyd Wright designed residence about 1/4 mile down Rubicon Rd.).
