United/Lufthansa codeshare double booking nightmare
Recently booked a biz class roundtrip on United.com. ORD to CPT. Booking got messed up when a Swiss flight in the original itinerary canceled just a day after the booking. United randomly assigned some new flights I hated. Called United RES. They rebooked my itinerary from ORD-FRA-JNB-CPT-FRA-ORD. Problem is that they left two legs from the original booking "on the books" with their own booking confirmation. So now I have two legs of the flight on the same days and same metal. United cannot see the extra flights. Lufthansa can. I have one confirmation number for United and two for Lufthansa. Lufthansa cannot give me seat assignments until the two double-booked flights are cnx. I've talked to United and Luft RES and they send me back to each other. FT pros, who can cancel the booking? United or Luft? With hold times near an hour I am loathe to call United back just to have them point me right back to Lufthansa. Frustrated in the ATL.
