Let me rephrase my point. 100% of my transactions show up under "Recent store visits" on AA (meaning Cartera, not AA.com obviously). So every visit is being tracked. That is handled by AA and not the merchant.
Only 75% show up under Recent transactions (this includes the posts/cb so higher than the 50% figure I cited). So only half have been paid out and stuck. Obviously it's up to the merchant to tell AA when you purchase something.
With that being said, I am now just realizing that most people use the term tracked to mean visit recorded and miles at least pending (which is not how you and I are using it in this thread). So that's probably leading to the confusion.
If I were the judge, I would assign 100% fault with the merchants. Just my 2 cents!
It showing up under recent store visits just means that you clicked the link to go to the store. That is handled completely on Cartera's end and can't really be screwed up.
The term "tracked" (the way Cartera uses it in the emails that they send out) refers to your purchase being reported back to Cartera. Again, since I switched to using a dedicated browser for portals 100% of my purchases have tracked eventually. Obviously some merchants are faster than others, but they do all track. It's strange that you get different results with Cartera then Rakuten. I seriously doubt that the merchants are not properly reporting the purchases back to Cartera. Cartera is not going to continue to partner with a merchant that does not make them any money (remember that you get miles when Cartera gets paid; if you are being ripped off so are they)
