Assume it does for the reason flight crew require sustenance during their flying duty in line with their contracted agreements.... keeping in mind a flying duty can extend to more than just one flight sector so with this in mind short haul is still very much in the scope of possible cancellations if BA aren't able to fulfill their contractual obligation to their employees. Why BA can't just offer a financial uplift of say £30 per day to all operating crew flying on affected days for them to self cater in order to save the operation is beyond me... I'm sure it's going to be far more complex than this (as is usually the case in large corporations), internal process and policy tend to restrict common sense and damage limitation but seeing as as there's a couple of weeks to get a contingency in place, I'd like to think if BA really wanted to create a solution to save their timetable and confidence in their brand that there's still enough time available to make it happen.... they'll recoup the costs back from their contract with Do&Co at any rate so it really shouldn't come at any significant cost to the business.
