Worked out well for me last weekend. I got on the wrong Q10 bus and arrived with only about five minutes before flight door closure (long lines at regular security lines).
Q10 could also be a lifeline. Last month, I was waiting for A line, only to discover that A line had stopped due to fatality incident. So I jumped to C, tranferred to J/K subway to catch the Q10 Limited. Had I waited for resumption of Subway A line, I would have arrived to JFK hours later.

On a separate weekend, AirTrain had malfunctioned. With so many people awaiting non-existent replacement bus, I hopped onto B15 (no one waiting) from Leffert Blvd bus stop bound for JFK airport.

Q10 @$2.75 (including free subway transfer) is definitely a money saver, knowing it serve both A and E/F and J/Z subway lines, To A/E/F/J/Z Subway Lines, take any Q10 bus, Q10 Limited is faster. To JFK, take any Q10 bus which indicate JFK as a destination. Q10 Limited will be faster. 150 st destination Q10 will not got to JFK. Return from JFK to any of the A/J/Z/E/F Subway is always Kew Gardens. New York MTA busses take both cash and credit card for fare payment.

A ride on Airtrain to Jamaica station or Howard Beach has a $7.75 price tag each way, and will still cost $2.75 more to ride the subway.
