I doubt BA will even know you got a comp at the airport. If you're ok taking the downgrade -- it's a short flight -- take the comp and then request the credit for the BA miles. Or, wait for the next available flight with business, but that might be tough for four people. Save ALL boarding passes, including electronic ones.
