My 0650 flight to YVR was delayed for 20 minutes today, due to "YVR Loading and being instructed to hold off on departure"...this happened during early January as well but was related to "staffing issues" during the height of Omicron...no biggie, got out my laptop and e-mailed for 20 minutes.
Left at the revised time and landed, where we had to wait for a gate for 15-20 minutes...normally the DH4's all end up around C30-C38, where you walk outside to get to the plane/terminal. Annoying, but used to it...read the news.
Once we got off the plane (0735 maybe), I was surprised to see us at a covered gate (C41). Imagine my surprise when I started walking thru the terminal and...
- It was PACKED...not including Xmas break, I have not seen a Canadian terminal that busy in quite some time
- There was a line of 6 people to get into the MLL, with a staff member parked outside the front door - I don't think I've ever seen a line to get in this early since I started commuting weekly.
- Once I exited the secure area, I could see the security check-in line was also quite large
Hopefully this is a sign that things are picking up for flight traffic...starting to fear traffic loads for our Spring Break trip
