This is not true. I exclusively check in at G (international) for both domestic or international flights since it is walking distance from BART (and sometimes has less people) - It's also nicer/has higher ceilings. You can both self-print a bag tag with the kiosks or go up to the counter. No united agent has every said anything about flying a domestic or intl. I have to imagine that the baggage systems are linked and there is no manual transfers.
