I have stayed here about 5 times since the first refurb opened and the price tag has slowly been increasing to levels to match or rival park lane and bankside on some dates I was looking at in June. Understandable - they've invested in the product and I've been impressed with the results. They know exactly where they are pitching themselves in comparison to other Hiltons. Just remember this is a massive (1000 room+ pre-refurb) conference hotel, very close to Paddington and it's Heathrow connections. The vibe at the Metropole is very different to say Bankside. Plus they got rid of the swimming pool to make way for the (impressive looking) lounge so Bankside still wins on that front. Overall, I'd be very happy to stay at either depending on where I needed to be in London and the price tag on that night.
