Background: I work in the area and stay 2-3 nights a week in a hotel. Have been staying at Gild Hall but more frequently, the Hotel 50 Bowery.
I stayed as one of the first guests back on the 26th (may be off slightly). Booked into a King with an upgrade to King Deluxe. Apparently, no standard suites available although they were selling online…my guess is that they were probably testing the waters through the website and when no one booked them, they just neglected to open the floors with suites. Not a huge deal; I’m only in the room for nights anyway.
Décor is fairly similar to pics of the Andaz, however, a lot of spots on the floor had a slightly annoying tackiness that felt like the floor was sticking to your feet. Perhaps someone can shine light on if there is new flooring compared to the Andaz? Here are some pics that I took:
King Deluxe Room:
This is the entryway with the closet on the right side and bathroom / shower alcove to the left.
This is the alcove with the shower / tub to the left and bathroom to the right. Quite a wealth of space.
Here is the shower area. Water pressure was great in my experience. Took a little bit of time to become super hot as I like it.
Tub area for the King Deluxe. Didn’t use, but nice to have.
This is the bed / desk area. My understanding is that the King Deluxe room has an oversized desk and more space in between the end of the bed and the desk itself. Blinds were power controlled, which was nice. I slept well in the bed and found it very comfortable.
Working desk with somewhat of a smaller TV than I pictured. Small area where you can put your items to the right of the desk.

Complementary earplugs and two bottles of water. Noise wasn’t bad but I’m also used to incredible amounts of noise (lived across from Hudson Yards being built at night). Water was appreciated, however, I DND my room for the second day and consequently didn’t have water delivered again. They also didn’t keep any downstairs so had to scamper across Water Street to Duane Reade and snag some. My fault, but expected the lobby to have a few spare bottles in case. I’m sure they will eventually, if they don’t already have them stocked.
Nice alarm clock with wireless charger. However, when I plugged into the wall my phone didn’t charge all night. It might be user error but wonder if anyone else had this issue.
Here is easily the worst part of the stay for me which frankly probably isn’t that bad once you read further. It was a relatively warm winter day for NYC (50 F or so) and apparently the heating / AC system can do only heating OR AC depending on the season and not both. Naturally, this was set to heat given the time of year. And because of this, I spent 30 min dripping bullets of sweat fresh off a hot shower wondering why the thermostat wouldn’t cool the room down. Pro tip, just call down and they’ll somehow adjust it. Either way, a bit annoying to have to deal with but given the age of the building, not much the staff can do.
Desk.
Space behind the desk.
Phones are still a blast from the past 😊
Centric Suite
Upgraded to a Centric Suite on my second stay here. Hallway opens to the below living area which is separated by the TV from the main sleeping quarters. Sorry, no sliding door here.
Living room. Couch was reasonably comfy but not one I’d want to spend the night on.
Sleeping quarters. Similar (if not identical) furnishings as the King Deluxe.
Similar and nice oversized desk to the King Deluxe
Bathroom area largely the same with shower, tub, and toilet. Think its identical décor as the King Deluxe.
Breakfast:
Didn’t get any pics, but breakfast was really, really freaking good. Globalist wiped out all charges including juice, coffee and an entrée. I experienced nothing but great service from the folks there, but I will say I was one of a few guests both times so I can understand if service slipped with more guests. However, all in all, this breakfast thoroughly outperforms any mid-tier Hyatt breakfast out there, including some Andazs I’ve been to.
Overall Thoughts:
Good, convenient hotel to offices in the area. Great breakfast. Workmanship and quality of the room probably is a step back from the Hotel 50 Bowery but that is to be expected given the age of both hotels. Prefer it over Gild Hall given the increased light and space. Probably my go to in the area given convenience of walking to the office and size of rooms but it would depend on the price. If the Hotel 50 Bowery was $75 or maybe even $50 cheaper for given dates, I’d probably choose it given the difference in price and the higher destination fee ($35 vs. $20). Understand that’s waived for me as a Globalist but will be consideration for most people looking to stay here.
Feel free to ask any questions but please do go easy on me as this is my first review of anything on Flyertalk 😊
