I suspect you were referring to:
Hyatt Dorado in PR-What might a diamond expect?
or this
https://www.flyertalk.com/forum/hyatt-world-hyatt/135144-cerromar-resort-update-ghost-town.html

Both were different properties.

IMHO, this resort mislabeled mandatory 18% Service Charge as Resort Fees which are not waived for Globalists. Resort Fees are a fixed dollar daily fee, not a percentage, added to room rates. A fixed percentage Service Charge is often added to properties in Caribbeans and Asia.
Yes... I think it was the Cerromar... horrendous experience.
I agree with you- I think the property mislabeled the charge.......

Well three calls later and I got a Globalist representative to transfer me to a manager (the first three insisted that each hotel can opt out of providing that benefit to Globalists... yeah, right...)

The manager knew exactly what I was talking about. She noticed it was called a resort fee, called the property, informed them they cannot charge Globalists for this fee per the rules of the program. She made the reservation for me and documented on the actual reservation "18% RESORT FEE TO BE WAIVED".

Took a while to get this resolved but it shouldn't be this difficult....
