These are good questions, as there are all sorts of potential points of failure where their system could get confused. But in this case, it was a completely straightforward rental.
As suggested, I'm not going to worry about it. I did my due diligence, and have all my paperwork... except for the final receipt since they never gave me one.
This is most likely because they made a contract when they assigned you that car, but wrongfully voided the contract at the end of day because they thought you didn’t pick it up. At this point there’s nothing to worry.
